Rising Tide is a massive, youth-led environmental movement based in Newcastle Australia—where you’ll also find the world’s largest coal port, pumping out the black stuff 24/7 and responsible for fully 1% of total global greenhouse gas emissions. That’s across all countries and all sources.
Rising Tide’s annual blockades of the coal port, and their other shenanigans—stopping coal trains, infiltrating board meetings, massive chalk graffiti, unfurling huge banners without permission—disrupt and highlight climate destruction.
The film about last year’s blockade1 will be premiering soon in Newcastle, and the trailer is now ready. Free screenings are coming up in Sydney and elsewhere, and you’re encouraged to organise your own screening—wherever you are. It will be well worth a look!
I hope you’re inspired to get involved or take your own climate action.

- I attended the 2025 blockade and protestival with my kids. I highly recommend getting involved (even if I did fall out of my kayak!)
